From October 9 till October 16, 2017 Pepijn Lanen (from de jeugd van tegenwoordig) and Steven van Lummel’s project TOKYAYO was supported as a prototype case for LOKAAL INTERNATIONAAL 2017. This project was selected because it demonstrated several of the basic requirement for the program. In February of 2017, Pepijn and Steven traveled to Japan to create an online travel series for VICELAND NL and FLABBER Online. During their initial visit they had made contact with various groups with which they wanted to explore more possibilities of collaboration.
